The Bibinje karate club achieved great success at the 5th Zrinjski Karate Cup, held on Sunday, 20 September. The competitors returned home with a total of 24 medals.
This was a strong international tournament organised by the Zrinjski Karate Club, with nearly 500 competitors from 42 clubs and five countries taking part. The competition included kata and sparring, in age groups from children to veterans, with European and world referees officiating.
The Bibinje karateka won 4 gold, 7 silver and 13 bronze medals, making a total of 24 medals. The club stated that they were proud of the fighting spirit and character shown by their members. They were particularly pleased with the members for whom this was their first competition, and noted that they were equally proud of their fighters, who were increasingly improving their results competition by competition.
During their stay in the city, the coaches took the children to see the Stari Most, the most famous symbol of Mostar. The 16th-century bridge, along with the historic city centre, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2005, so the children were able to experience part of the rich history and culture of the region alongside sport. The club noted that such trips were special to them, as competitions became an opportunity for learning, socialising, and creating memories that the children would remember for years.
The club leadership congratulated all the competitors on their effort and courage. They thanked the parents for their support and trust, and the organisers for the well-organised competition, and expressed their gratitude to all who followed and cheered for them. They concluded that they were returning from Mostar with pride and renewed motivation for the rest of the season.
