Savannah DeMile, a member of the US women’s national football team, has filed a legal claim against University of Louisville Health, accusing the institution of medical negligence. This legal action follows shortly after the 28-year-old player suffered serious health issues during an official match, which led to her temporary collapse on the pitch.

The lawsuit, formally filed on Tuesday morning, was submitted in a Kentucky court. At the heart of the dispute is the claim that the critical condition arose from an undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmia. De Mile, who plays for a club in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and has seven caps for the US national team, alleges that her health condition was failed to be recognised at a crucial moment, resulting in a dangerous situation on the field.

The incident occurred during an NWSL match on 14 September. At that time, her condition deteriorated suddenly, requiring emergency intervention. Although doctors from University of Louisville Health provided the necessary assistance, De Mile maintains that a failure to diagnose previous symptoms contributed to the life-threatening situation. This legal action represents an attempt to seek compensation and highlight the importance of timely medical assessment for high-performance athletes.
