The handballers of ŽRK Poreč travel to Malinska on Saturday, where they will face Omišalj in the third round of the 3. Croatian Handball League West. The Poreč team will attempt to secure new league points and achieve a second consecutive victory in this encounter.
The Poreč side heads to Malinska following a convincing 27:17 victory over Ogulin, which provides them with additional confidence ahead of the demanding away fixture. Omišalj has consistently finished near the top of the league table in recent seasons, but this year they are fielding a somewhat younger squad. Despite this, the Poreč players expect a challenging match in which they must combine a solid defence with patience in attack and maintain concentration throughout the entire game.
One of the more experienced players in the Poreč squad, Nina Bartolić, emphasised the importance of team unity and a good atmosphere within the group before the match. "We face an important away game against the young and well-drilled Omišalj team," Bartolić stated. She added that Omišalj would certainly give their all to keep the points at home, but that the Poreč players could rely on their experience, unity and the excellent atmosphere within the club.
Bartolić believes that with the right team spirit, concentration and fighting spirit from the first to the last minute, the Poreč players can secure the desired two points. Omišalj will attempt to use the home advantage in front of their fans, which further increases the challenge for the Poreč team. The match in Malinska will thus be a true test for the Poreč players in their intention to continue their winning streak and consolidate their position in the league standings.
