RB Leipzig and Real Madrid are in the final stages of talks over the transfer of young winger Yan Diomande. According to reports from Florian Plettenberg, the two sides are very close to reaching a final agreement on the player’s move from Germany to Madrid.
Although the potential transfer had been discussed throughout the summer window, the negotiations were protracted. Real Madrid entered the race for Diomande after French side PSG came close to completing a deal. It now appears that the Spanish club has outmanoeuvred the competition to secure a solution that satisfies both parties.
The financial details of the deal are impressive. The total value of the transfer, including potential bonuses, is expected to be between €130m and €140m. The final structure of the payment and the terms of the contract are currently being finalised in order to formalise the transaction.
Yan Diomande, a 19-year-old international for Ivory Coast, delivered outstanding statistical results for Leipzig last season. In 36 appearances, he scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists, attracting the attention of Europe’s top clubs.
Despite the progress in the negotiations, the formal processes are not yet complete. Diomande has not yet received final clearance to undergo a medical examination, which is a key step before the contract can be signed. Transfermarkt estimates the player’s market value at €90m, suggesting that Real will pay significantly more than the current estimate due to bonuses and inflationary factors.
