Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year contract with Turkish club Trabzonspor, officially bringing an end to his nine-year spell at Liverpool. According to details released, the Egyptian forward will earn €17 million per season at his new club. The contract also includes conditional bonuses that Salah can secure each season.
The financial package for Sal’s move to Turkey is further enhanced by a special clause granting the player 20 per cent of revenue from merchandise sales under his name. The Turkish club announced the agreement on Thursday, confirming the end of one of the most productive partnerships in the history of English football.
Salah has made 442 appearances for Liverpool, scoring an impressive 257 goals. During his time at Anfield, the forward won two English titles and one Champions League. His statistics in the last season were exceptional, with 29 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League.
In the 2024/25 season, Salah equalled the Premier League record for the most goals scored in a single season, becoming the first player to achieve this in a 38-game season. For his outstanding performances, he was named Premier League Player of the Season, winning the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award, becoming the first player in history to win all three prestigious honours in one season.
Despite individual success, the last season at Liverpool was marked by tensions. Sal had a public disagreement with then-manager Arne Slot, and during the competitive phase of the season, he was often left on the bench in Champions League matches. In the previous season, before achieving record-breaking numbers, Sal had recorded seven goals and seven assists in 27 league matches.
