Trabzonspor have officially confirmed the arrival of Mohamed Salah, completing the transfer of one of the world’s most famous footballers. Salah, a free agent following his departure from Liverpool at the end of last season, was greeted by excited crowds upon his arrival in Turkey. Before the official presentation, the Egyptian forward was welcomed heroically, with hundreds of fans gathering at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport to welcome him.
Upon arriving in Turkey, the 34-year-old was surrounded by a large crowd, and he stepped out wearing the new club’s colours. Although sources noted that he was hindered by the crowd, the atmosphere was highly positive, with Salah actively engaging with the excited fans. This move marks the end of a nine-year era at Merseyside, where Salah became the highest-paid player, signing a contract in April 2025 with a weekly wage of £400,000.
During his time at Liverpool, Salah scored an impressive 257 goals, including 50 in the Champions League. However, his last season in the Premier League was marked by a decline in form, with only seven goals scored. Despite this, his status as Egypt’s captain and his experience in top-level football make him a valuable addition to Trabzonspor, who play in the Super Lig.
Trabzonspor finished in third place last season, eight points behind champions Galatasaray. With the arrival of Salah, the club will compete in European football next season, with the aim of reaching the group stage of the Europa League. If they fail to progress through the qualifying rounds, Trabzonspor will drop into the Conference League. Although the transfer has been confirmed, details regarding the salary Salah will receive in Turkey remain private.
