Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff survived a shooting that took place on Sunday evening in Mumbai, Indian police investigating the case have confirmed. According to police, Shroff sustained no gunshot wounds.
The actor was in a car leaving a football club in the Juhu suburb at the time of the attack. Footage released by numerous media outlets shows at least two armed attackers firing multiple shots from close range into the front passenger seat of the car while the vehicle was moving slowly past a crowd of people.
Police stated that two people were injured in the shooting, including Shroff's driver, local media reported. The incident has further heightened concerns about the safety of public figures in India.
Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister of the Indian state of Maharashtra, where Mumbai is located, visited Shroff after the shooting on Sunday evening. Shinde stated that the actor and his mother were "shaken" by the attack and said: "These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated and we will put an end to this hooliganism."
The attack on Shroff is not an isolated incident. During 2024, police in India arrested two members of a criminal group for an armed attack on the home of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. In the same year, influential Indian politician Baba Siddique was killed in Mumbai.
Tiger Shroff made his acting debut in 2014 in the romantic film Heropanti. In addition to his acting career, he is known as a football enthusiast and plays for the professional football club Mumbai FC.
