A man died after being attacked by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, police said. The incident took place in the tiger enclosure, and the park was evacuated shortly afterwards.

South Yorkshire Police received a report of a person entering the enclosure at the zoo at 13:35. The attack resulted in serious injuries, according to the police. Emergency services attended the scene, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed, and specialist police officers are providing support.

The tiger was unharmed and remained in the enclosure following the incident. Police stated that there was no wider threat to the public. They also noted that they were aware of videos circulating online and urged the public not to share disturbing footage.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park stated that a 'serious incident' had taken place within the enclosure and that their emergency response protocols had been activated immediately. The park stated that it was working closely with the relevant authorities to establish exactly what had happened. 'The safety and well-being of visitors, staff and animals remains our top priority,' the park said. The site will remain closed on Sunday.
