A shooting took place on the main city square in Krakow, in which five people were killed, according to initial reports.

A witness told TV Republika that a man was in a black Subaru and fired at people near the Zara stores and on the square. Another witness told the same broadcaster that he saw a black Subaru at the moment a man got out of it. According to him, it was probably Szewska Street, although he did not remember exactly.

The same witness stated that he saw the man begin to reload his automatic pistol. He also said that, in his opinion, the man was not firing randomly, but that they were targeted shots. He added that the man had something like a police mask and protective goggles on his face. He then fired towards the church and fled in the direction of Grodzka Street, he said.

Aleksander stated that they were walking towards a shop and heard gunshots. According to him, they heard about 20 shots. They ran into the shop, the saleswoman closed the doors and they waited inside for some time. Aleksander added that tourists from other countries did not know what was happening.

A reader of the Gazeta Krakowska newspaper stated that his wife, who works on the main square, called him and said that someone was shooting. Then, apparently, a police officer shot someone, the reader said.
