Ivan Čermak stated that the difference between a visit to the port five months ago and today would be like day and night. He used this description to outline the changes at the Zadar commercial port in Gaženica since Delta Logistic International took over management six months ago.

However, the takeover of management did not pass without resistance from the local population. In February this year, residents of Bibinje rose up in protest against large tanks owned by the company Delta terminali in the Gaženica area. These tanks are located approximately half a kilometre from the new nursery for Bibinje residents.

The protest was triggered by the state's decision to approve the repurposing of the tanks for Čermak's company without the preparation of an environmental impact study. The repurposing of the tanks, in addition to vegetable oils, also enabled the storage of diesel fuel. It was precisely this fact that further alarmed the residents of Bibinje, who are concerned about the proximity of such facilities to residential and children's buildings.

In the meantime, Lučka uprava Zadar (Zadar Port Authority) terminated the contract with the company Luka Zadar d.d. in November 2025. The company was under Chinese ownership, and the contract was terminated due to the failure to fulfil obligations. The termination of the contract opened the way for a new manager, Delta Logistic International, which took over the business six months ago.

Čermak's statement about the difference being "like day and night" suggests that the changes at the Gaženica port have affected its operations and appearance. Nevertheless, tensions with the local population over the tanks remain present, and the question of environmental impact remains open.
