At the twelfth meeting of the Križevac City Council, held on the 12th, key infrastructure and social issues were discussed, with a particular focus on the state of kindergartens. Although the opening of new facilities in the kindergarten is planned for 7 October, the situation is more complex due to delays in the works. The mayor stated that the current data is worrying, particularly as the kindergarten has enrolled fewer children this year, specifically 27 fewer children in the kindergarten groups compared to last year, while a similar trend in enrolment was recorded for the 161 children in the nursery.
The construction of new facilities, such as the kindergarten in the barracks, requires additional financial resources, with a deadline for completion set for 7 October 2026. However, the mayor stated that the works would be completed by the end of the year, despite the current delay in the works. This situation reflects a wider problem of delays in several municipal projects, including the road to Kloštar Podravski, which is six months behind schedule, and the railway, the completion of which has been postponed by a year.
In addition to infrastructure challenges, the mayor highlighted that the numbers of children enrolled in kindergartens are worrying, indicating a need for immediate action to secure adequate capacity. Bjelovar-Bilogora, also part of the wider project, is four months behind schedule, which further strains the planned construction schedule. These figures highlight the need for better project management and greater coordination between the various stakeholders, to ensure that all deadlines are met and that delays in future projects are avoided.
