Construction of the new kindergarten on the site of the former exhibition ground is progressing according to the planned schedule, with works expected to be completed by the end of the year. The new kindergarten will provide accommodation for a total of 156 children, distributed across nine groups.
The building, which spans more than 2,000 square metres, will house six mixed early-years groups and three nursery groups for the children. The works are being carried out by the company Vodoprivreda – Zagorje, with the contract value standing at just over €4 million.
The project is co-financed by the European Union with €1.63 million, through the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The project is designed to incorporate a green building system, with the structure being of a wooden, modular design.
The project includes the installation of relevant water systems, including a rainwater harvesting system for irrigating the sanitary facilities, charging points for electric vehicles, and solar panels.
In addition to the building itself, the access road has been completed, ensuring better transport links for the future kindergarten. The site will include 51 parking spaces.
Following the completion of the construction works, the interior fitting-out of the building will commence, creating the conditions for the facility to begin operations with children.
