The average price of newly listed properties has seen a dramatic fall of nearly £100,000 in a single month. This follows a drop in the most affluent London borough, where properties for sale have seen a sharp reduction in asking prices.
This sudden price fall in an elite part of the capital reflects intense competition among sellers across many parts of the country. This situation encourages owners to significantly reduce their pricing expectations to attract buyers in a market that is becoming increasingly demanding.
According to data from the property website Rightmove, the average price of newly listed houses and flats across Britain fell by 2 per cent in the previous month. This drop represents a significant shift in the property market, although it is a smaller percentage compared to the extreme falls in individual, elite neighbourhoods.
This two per cent reduction marks the largest monthly price fall in August in the past eight years. The figure indicates significant changes in the dynamics of the British property market, where cooling trends are increasingly manifesting through general market indicators rather than local specifics.
