Ana-Marija Hrust from Marija Gorica will represent Zagreb County at the 26th Election of the Most Exemplary Croatian Rural Woman, to be held on 3 October in Ilok. The competition brings together women from rural areas across the country.
Hrust is a qualified nurse and, in addition to her job, is a mother of three sons. She lives and works in the countryside with her family, where she and her husband launched their own family farm (OPG) a year and a half ago.
The farm currently has 85 head of cattle, and the family produces its own feed for the livestock. They cultivate around 30 hectares of agricultural land and use modern technology for robotic milking in production.
On the property, they also run a dairy where they produce various domestic dairy products – from fresh cheese and škripavac to yoghurt and cream. This rounds off their own production, from animal feed to finished products on the table.
Ana-Marija is also active in the local community as a member of the Bijela Gorica Volunteer Fire Brigade (DVD), where she participates in the work of the volunteer fire brigade.
The election for the most exemplary Croatian rural woman is organised by the Association of Exemplary Croatian Rural Women. In addition to the expert jury, readers of 24sata can, for the first time this year, vote for their favourites, choosing the winner of the public vote.
