The anniversary of the attack on Slano and the Dubrovnik Littoral, which took place in the autumn of 1991, was marked on Friday, 2 October. The event was organized by the institution Dubrovnik Littoral, with students from the primary schools of Slano and Primorje taking part.
The central part of the programme was the screening of the documentary 'Perast – Wounded Ship', by authors Paula and Đelo Jusić. The film presents the story of the Jadrolinija ship Perast and its fate during the Homeland War, with particular focus on the events of October 1991.
The ship Perast had for decades linked Dubrovnik, the Elafiti Islands and Mljet, and was known as the 'soul ship'. In October 1991, Perast was intercepted and forced to enter Slano. In the wake of the war, three members of the crew lost their lives, and the ship was severely damaged during the hostilities.
The ship was later rescued by members of the Croatian Navy. The anniversary in Slano brought together local residents and students, who, through the film and the programme, recalled the fate of the ship and the people connected to it, as well as the wartime events that affected Slano and the Dubrovnik Littoral.
