The Delnice branch of the Croatian Red Cross, in cooperation with the Delnice Secondary School, organised an educational lecture and workshop titled 'Violence is not a joke'. The event took place in the premises of the Delnice Secondary School and was aimed at first-year students of the general gymnasium and the forestry technician programme.

The workshop was led by Tanja Jakovac from the Izvor Counselling Centre. The aim was to raise awareness among young people about the problem of violence, its various forms, and the importance of timely recognition and response to violent behaviour.

Through discussion and educational activities, students had the opportunity to reflect on what constitutes violence, how to recognise unacceptable patterns of behaviour, and why it is important to build relationships based on respect, understanding and mutual support.

Particular emphasis was placed on the responsibility of every individual in preventing violence, the importance of providing support to those who experience it, and the need not to justify, minimise or view violence as commonplace.

Students were also presented with options for seeking help, as well as the institutions and services they can contact if they experience violence or witness violence against others. A key message was that no one should be left alone with the problem of violence, and that seeking help is an important step towards protecting oneself and others.
