On the occasion of National Road Traffic Safety Day, observed on 21 October, the Krapina-Zagorje Police Directorate carried out preventive and educational activities in Bedekovčina and Donja Stubica. The focus was on familiarising young people with the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as well as on the safe participation of children in traffic.

A lecture was held on Wednesday at Bedekovčina Secondary School as part of the "Zero Promille" project, which the Zagorje police are running in cooperation with the Zagor Network of Associations. 45 students from the final year attended the lecture, which was delivered by traffic police officer Tomislav Zajec. The students were informed about the risks and potential severe consequences of traffic accidents caused by driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

On the same day, police officers set up a checkpoint in Bedekovčina, where they monitored compliance with traffic regulations. Drivers who demonstrated responsible behaviour in traffic were awarded commemorative prizes.

A "Bicycle School" was held at the Donja Stubica City Sports Hall, attended by 105 pupils from Donja Stubica Primary School. The activity was aimed at increasing traffic culture and child safety, with a particular emphasis on participation in traffic by bicycle and personal transport devices, especially electric scooters. After the theoretical part, the students applied their acquired knowledge on a specially prepared traffic course.

The police remind that these activities are part of their continuous preventive work. They call on all road users to respect traffic regulations, adapt their speed to road conditions, use seatbelts and avoid using mobile phones while driving.
