Biciklistički klub Prelog organized a specialized children's cycling camp on 2 September, which gathered 115 children. The event was held at the sports fields of the 'DG Sport' sports and recreation centre in Prelog, and was intended for children aged 3 to 13. Participants were divided into two age groups, younger and older, so that the content could be adapted to their developmental abilities.
Through practical exercises, the children learned the basics of cycling, with a particular focus on the rules of safe riding. Special attention was paid to the educational aspect, where children were introduced to basic legal provisions related to the operation of a bicycle. The aim was to make the young participants aware of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and road safety, which is crucial for preventing accidents on the roads.
Each child received a gift at the end, in the form of a reflective strip, thereby further highlighting the importance of visibility in traffic. In addition to the children, parents and club members were introduced to the 'Protect Your Bike' and 'Together to Greater Safety' projects. The importance of locking bicycles correctly and applying measures to reduce the risk of theft was highlighted, which contributes to overall safety and the prevention of crime.
Such events play an important role in promoting safe cycling, especially among children. Through practical exercises and education, children learn how to behave correctly in traffic, which reduces the risk of accidents. Moreover, such events promote a healthy lifestyle and active participation in sports activities, which is essential for the development of children and young people.
Through such initiatives, local communities can contribute to creating a safer environment for all participants in traffic, especially the youngest. It is important to note that these events have a long-term effect, as they encourage responsible behaviour and awareness of safety, which is crucial for a sustainable future.
