The promenade in front of Petar Preradović Gymnasium in Virovitica was filled with children's laughter and cheering. The event, titled 'Little Ones in the Park', gathered the youngest residents of Virovitica, who tested their strength in cycling and running races.
The sports programme brought together children of preschool and primary school age, with competitors divided into categories according to age and gender. The cycling part of the programme included 12 categories, with the youngest generations competing on push bikes and bicycles with stabilisers. Preschoolers and pupils from the first to the eighth grade of primary school competed in their age categories, on short and marked tracks adapted to the age of the participants.
The emphasis of the event was on socialising, fun and encouraging children to lead an active lifestyle. Following the cycling races, the programme continued with children's running races. The youngest runners competed in distances of 40 to 100 metres, depending on the year of birth, and were divided into categories for girls and boys. Parents, family members and other spectators cheered on the young competitors with loud cheers, with some children experiencing an organised sports competition for the first time.
In the category for children on push bikes, the best were Luka Bišćan, Lovro Bišćan and Karlo Vuković, while Ana Mešić and Bruna Kordej took first and second place among the girls. The youngest children with stabilisers, Karlo Kuš, Leo Škaro and Balázs Devai, finished in that order, with Tisa Karl first among the girls. In the category for preschoolers without stabilisers, Toma Jandrić, Toni Čordaš and Niko Vrbanić stood out, as did Magda Pavičić, Petra Valentić and Melanija Miholić.
Among pupils in the first and second grades, the best were Teo Gatačić, Ivano Bišćan and Adam Razum, with Lucija Andrović, Mia Kapetinić and Eli Kovač among the girls. In the third and fourth grade categories, the top three places were taken by Patrik Gataš, Marin Galić and Mateo Čordaš, while Ana Lesić was first among the girls. For the fifth and sixth grades, the best boy was Fran Foret, with Ana Broz and Anamaria Medvecki standing out among the girls.
