The mayor of Metković, Dalibor Milan, issued an official message on the occasion of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders. The message was addressed to all Croatian defenders, the families of fallen and missing defenders, as well as all citizens of the Republic of Croatia.
In his message, Milan highlighted that 5 August is a day when we proudly remember the magnificent victory of the Homeland War. He specifically noted that it was the defenders' courage, determination, and deep love for the homeland that enabled the creation of a free and independent Republic of Croatia.
A similar message was delivered by the president of the Orahovi City Council, Ivana Grega. She also extended greetings on Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders, thereby showing respect to all those who contributed to the defence of the state during the Homeland War.
Representatives of the Association of Dubrovnik Defenders (Hrvatska mornarica) took part in the commemorations of the 31st anniversary of the Operation Storm. Members of the association attended the central state ceremony marking Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders.
During the commemorations in Knin, the veterans paid tribute to all Croatian defenders, with special emphasis on the fallen and deceased veterans. A particular focus was placed on the immeasurable contribution of Croatian defenders from the Dubrovnik region and members of the Croatian Navy in the defence of the southernmost part of Croatia and in the liberation of occupied territories during the Homeland War.
