A medical technician was injured on Friday on the A3 motorway near Brodski Stupnik, after a bullet pierced the side window of the ambulance in which he was travelling. The incident occurred while the vehicle was moving along the section between Lužan and Slavonski Brod.
According to the Police Directorate, the report of the injury to the health worker was received at 16:30. The injury occurred on the southern lane of the A3 motorway, between Lužan and Brodski Stupnik, while the vehicle was in motion. The right side window glass was shattered by a bullet of unknown calibre.
The technician was taken to the General Hospital 'Dr. Josip Benčević' in Slavonski Brod. The hospital confirmed that he sustained a hand injury, which was not serious enough to require hospital admission. He is expected to be discharged following medical treatment.
The police are aware of the incident and are establishing the circumstances. A criminal investigation is expected to determine whether the glass was indeed pierced by a bullet from a firearm and how the incident occurred. According to unofficial information, a projectile from a firearm pierced the side window of the ambulance.
No confirmed information is yet available regarding who may be responsible for the incident.
