Most MP Marin Miletić was in Ogulin yesterday, where he held a press conference at which he highlighted waste management issues in the town. Special focus was placed on the Sod depot, the closure of which was ordered by the Inspectorate.
Miletić recalled that the contract for the remediation of Sod was signed in 2005, when HDZ was in power in Ogulin. The town entered into an agreement with the Fund on 21 January 2005, but the deadline for completing the remediation programme was subsequently extended to the end of 2026. According to him, this shows that promises to resolve the depot issue have not been kept for years.
The 2025 inspection record notes a number of technical deficiencies at Sod. Among them is the fact that there was no collection of leachate outside the depot body, nor was there separate collection of rainwater and depot gas. Due to these oversights, the Inspectorate conducted a control of the depot on 26 June 2025, and on 7 July issued a decision to close it.
Waste was brought to the depot from Ogulin and surrounding municipalities, but also from several other towns and municipalities, including Samobor, Sveti Nedelja and Jastrebarsko. He pointed out that the municipal utility had not submitted a new application for a waste management permit, nor had it drawn up the prescribed waste management plan. Without this plan, the competent authority cannot process the permit application.
Miletić recalled that HD had been in power in Ogulin from 2005 to 2017, while SDP has been in power since 2017. He told Prime Minister Andrej Plenković to abandon the outdated waste management concepts and to resign, as he had allowed waste mafia to poison Croatia.
At the end, he announced the imminent establishment of Most in Ogulin and the fight for a better quality of life for the people of Ogulin and that region.
