In Osijek on Saturday, 3 October 2026, the traditional Osijek Walking Trail was held, an event organised by HPD Brošanj – Jankovac Osijek, the oldest mountain club in Slavonia. More than 200 participants successfully completed the 15-kilometre route along the Drava, which led all the way to the Udič House in Josipovac.

The Osijek Walking Trail (OPP) was established in 1981 on the initiative of Miroslav Miša Matošević. As the organisers state, the OPP does not attempt to turn the flatlands into a mountain, but rather brings together lovers of walking and nature. Following the Homeland War, the trail was neglected, but the members of the club restored it and returned its former glory.

The 15-kilometre route runs along both sides of the Drava, through city parks, the Fortress, the floodplain forest near Višnjevac, and the Old Drava. Accessible to all ages, the trail requires fitness due to its length. More than 200 hikers gathered at this year's walk, among them many members of the Požega 'Gojzerica' [Goat], specifically the members of HPD Gojzerica.

Members of HPD Gojzerica from Požega and the local hosts share a long-standing friendship, and both associations begin their events from the central city squares. The Požega hikers were led by their president, Višeslav Turković.

At the finish in Josipovac, the hosts presented awards to those who had visited all the control points. The president of the local club, Miro Muter, presented certificates to the visiting associations and invited the gathered crowd to a gathering with traditional beans and music.

The Požega hikers returned home tired but with full hearts, having made new friends and preserved the mountain tradition.
