Police officers are working intensively to resolve the case of an online scam in which an individual suffered significant financial loss. The incident occurred on 17 August, when a man in his sixties made contact with an unknown individual offering the sale of a wood processing machine.

After negotiations, the two parties agreed on the terms for the purchase of the specified equipment. Trusting in the legitimacy of the transaction, the victim made a payment of €2,400 to the requested account. However, following the payment, the ordered wood processing machine was never delivered to the specified address.

When the buyer attempted to contact the seller, he realised he had been deceived. The paid funds were not refunded, and the unknown individual ceased responding to messages or calls. This constitutes a classic case of online fraud, where the money vanished without compensation.

Police officers have immediately acted and initiated a search for the unknown perpetrator. The aim is to identify the individual who used the online advertisement to deceive the victim. The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing their inquiries to establish all the circumstances surrounding the offence.

Officers are gathering evidence and analysing digital traces to identify the perpetrator as soon as possible. Members of the public are urged to exercise caution when purchasing new or second-hand equipment via online advertisements, particularly when large sums of money are paid in advance without a physical inspection of the goods.
