Minister of Labour Alen Ruzic stated on Thursday that an increase in coefficients for cleaners could be considered. This confirmed that measures to improve working conditions for this group of workers are being actively reviewed at the state level.
In addition to changing coefficients, the minister highlighted that direct salary increases for cleaners are also under consideration. These statements come in response to increasingly serious problems in the cleaning sector, particularly in healthcare institutions.
The KBC Zagreb trade union previously warned of a critical shortage of cleaners in the hospital. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the job of a cleaner has become less attractive to potential workers, making recruitment and staff retention more difficult.
This problem is not isolated to a single healthcare centre but represents a wider challenge for maintaining hygiene standards in the public sector. Professional and financial interventions are needed to ensure an adequate workforce.
The first report on this issue was published by Novi list, which alerted the public to the current situation and the need for urgent action by the relevant authorities.
