The Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) has confirmed that operational measures, including arrests and urgent searches at multiple locations, are being conducted across the Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties. This confirmation follows recent media reports and speculation regarding the intensification of investigations in the region.
Following the public revelation of the arrest of former Split mayor Bruni Kerum, the current mayor, Tomislav Šuta, also made a statement. His appearance, however, underwent an abrupt change as he decided to postpone a media address that was scheduled to follow immediately after the news of Kerum’s arrest.
The impact of this decision was felt within the city administration. The Split city administration had to postpone an official event at which Mayor Tomislav Šuta was to participate and perform certain duties. The reason for the postponement is directly linked to the current media and security circumstances.
As a direct consequence of the delay, the schedule for a key administrative action was also moved. The signing of the agreement, which was originally scheduled for an earlier date, has now been moved to Friday, 31 July. Mayor Šute has therefore temporarily set aside his planned duties to accommodate the newly emerged situation.
