Most city councillor Franko Kelam spoke out in a statement following the statements by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Mayor Tomislav Šute regarding the future of the stadium at Poljud. Kelam questions the timeline of the announced works in light of the promises made during the election campaign.

Recall that Prime Minister Andrej Plenković spoke in Split about the Poljud project. According to previous indicators and the work of the commission, Plenković stated that Poljud could be modernised into a modern stadium.

The mayor said on the day before that he was waiting for the decision of the expert panel, which was told that the decision would be known soon. Šute, however, stated that he did not know the details.

The feasibility study was commissioned by the City of Split, and was presented in March. The study marked the stadium on the site of the current Poljud as the only functional and financially viable option. After the study, an additional expert panel was formed to provide an answer on the condition of the structure, and the decision is still awaited.

Šute went to the polls with the slogan 'I give you my word' and promised to do everything to 'start construction of the new stadium and camp as soon as possible'. He expressed his conviction that the issue of football infrastructure would be resolved in four years. However, the mayor himself has announced that the first baggers will only arrive in two to three years, which is at the heart of Kelam's criticism.
