Hajduk has expressed dissatisfaction with the construction of skyscrapers in the immediate vicinity of Poljud stadium. The club complained in Split about the construction of buildings behind the north stand, stressing that they will irreversibly change the unique appearance of Hajduk's home ground.

According to warnings from the club, the view from the south towards the north stand will no longer be the same. The skyscrapers rising behind that stand will permanently alter the impression the stadium leaves, and that skyline has for decades been one of the hallmarks of Poljud.

Hajduk also spoke out on its social media channels. In a post, it said: "Meanwhile in Split. As a working group takes more than two months to reach a conclusion on the state of Poljud, it has already lost forever that which always graced it..."

The club has for months been pushing for a new, functional stadium. Poljud's beauty, as it has been called for years, is no longer as beautiful as before — it has aged and crumbled, and for that reason Hajduk is lobbying with all its might for the City of Split and the state to help demolish the existing ground and build a new, modern and functional stadium.

The construction of skyscrapers has further sharpened the question of Poljud's future. As the working group's conclusion on the state of the stadium is awaited, the club warns that changes in the surroundings are already under way and that their consequences will be permanent.
