Darko Jozinović, a former member of Hajduk's golden generation, strongly condemned the Torcida's rampage and the interruption of the match against Ajax. Appearing on HRT's (Croatian Radiotelevision) programme Stadion, he stated that he still cannot come to terms with what happened at Poljud.
Jozinović was at the stadium as a spectator on Thursday. He described the atmosphere as fantastic and noted the support for Hajduk. "It was a good game and we were leading, until about 10-12 minutes before the end," he said. However, he noted that Torcida then did what it did. "No one could believe it, that you are working against the club, shooting yourself in the foot," Jozinović said, adding that it was unforgivable.
He recalled how his team played Ajax in the Champions League quarter-finals in 1995. According to him, when the incident began, the entire Ajax management immediately fled into the interior of the stadium. "Everyone was looking at each other," Jozinović said. He also described the mortar fire and everything that was happening, asserting that he believes they do not shoot like that on the border between Ukraine and Russia.
Finally, he stated that it is simply dangerous and does no one any credit. "Now there is that knot in the stomach and the question of what the penalty will be regarding Hajduk," Jozinović concluded.
