Josko Glaić, born in 1951, was a member of Hajduk's golden generation and a participant in the champions' squad of the early 1970s. He played under Slavko Luštica, Branko Zebec, and Tomislav Ivić, before continuing his career in the Netherlands with Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer.

Tomislav Ivić, who was coach at Ajax for two seasons, from summer 1976 to 1978, came to Ajax and watched a match by the team from Deventer against Utrecht together with the president of Ajax, Jaap van Praag. Ivi then proposed to the president that they take Glaić, after which Glaić moved to Ajax. He was with Ivi at the Marjan Trophy in 1977 in the squad of the spearmen.

However, Glaić did not play much in Ajax. The reason was an injury to the wrist immediately upon arrival, and later disagreements with Ivi. The available data shows 11 official matches, and he played two matches on the European scene against Manchester United in the UEFA Cup — 1:0 and 0:2, after which Ajax was eliminated. Glaić never wanted to reveal what he and the famous coach had quarrelled about, but he stated that later Ivi and he had smoothed things over.

Glaić stated that he was the only player who left at the end of the season, while still having a contract with Ajax. He added that he was contacted by Ajax, or rather that he was called by the newspaper Ajax Life, its editor Sander Zeldenrijk. Zeldenrijk asked him if he was still in marketing for Hajduk, or if he was in the organisation of the match.

Glaić responded that he had been in retirement for 13 years, but that he was following everything, and that he was not in the organisation of the match. He said that Hajduk had a chance for a good result and a win if they fought as against Dinamo, noting that he had not been to a match for a long time. The context of the conversation is that Hajduk plays in the European groups for the first time in 16 years.
