The laying of the foundation stone in Košute near Trilj marked the official start of construction for the Primary School in Košute, a branch of Osnovna škola Trilj. The total value of the construction is €11,825,116.32, of which €8,342,827.86 is provided by the Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026, while the remaining €3,482,288.46 is provided by the Split-Dalmatia County.
The minister of science and education, Radovan Fuchs, attended the ceremony, expressing hope that he would attend the opening of the school regardless of his position, provided the builders maintained a good pace. Fuchs stated that the Ministry of Science and Education is one of the largest investors in the country in terms of construction projects. He added that every school would soon operate on a single shift, and that he would not rest until every child was educated in a single-shift system.
The Split-Dalmatia County, led by its county president, expressed satisfaction with the realisation of the projects. He noted that this was the fifth project from the Recovery and Resilience Plan concerning schools and sports halls. A project was completed in Šestanović, while work is underway in Dugopolje, Postira, and Podstrana, with plans for Sinj, Omiš, Milna, Marina, and Dugi Rat. The county president announced that they plan to realise all planned projects within the next seven to eight months, describing this as one of the largest investments in the history of Croatian education in the Split-Dalmatia County. He added that the county has 24 projects and 24 contracts prepared, and that nine additional projects for the energy renovation of schools and sports halls can be added.
The mayor of Trilj, Ivan Bugarin, highlighted the importance of single-shift schooling for the area. He stated that they are embarking on the construction of a school that will ensure single-shift operation and full-day attendance for schools in the wider area of Trilj, thanking the Government of Croatia, the relevant ministry, and the Split-Dalmatia County.
