The first coordination meeting regarding the construction of the new Osnovna škola (Primary School) in Nova Gradiška was held in the small council chamber. The meeting, convened to align the activities of all project participants, brought together representatives of the contracting parties, as well as technical and design supervision. Attending the meeting on behalf of the Brod-Posavina County was the Deputy County Prefect, Marko Šimić.

At the first meeting, it was confirmed that the current works are proceeding according to the planned schedule. The works at this stage involve laying the reinforcement for the foundation slab and protecting the routing of electrical and plumbing installations. It was agreed that coordination meetings would be held every two weeks or once a month, depending on the needs of the construction site.

The construction of the new school is one of the most significant educational projects in Brod-Posvaška County. It is the first primary school to be built from the ground up in this area since the Homeland War. The agreed contract value is nearly €7.5 million excluding VAT, while the new school will have a capacity for 224 pupils. The project also includes a single sports hall.

With the completion of the project, modern conditions for teaching, sports activities, and student welfare will be secured. At the same time, the completion of the school will create the prerequisites for organising single-shift schooling in primary schools within the city of Nova Gradiška. The construction of the primary school in the Jug neighbourhood is the third such project in the area.

The new building is adjacent to the recently opened third kindergarten in the Jug neighbourhood, which was opened in Nova Gradiška recently. This is the first new kindergarten in the city in over half a century.
