A rally in support of Mayor Viktor Šimunić will be held in Oroslavje on Saturday. The gathering is scheduled from 16:00 to 17:00 at 142 Stubićka Street, with organisers choosing the slogan “With Viktor today, for a fairer Croatia tomorrow”.

Via social media, organisers have invited citizens to join and publicly show their support for the mayor. Participants may bring banners, and organisers have emphasised the importance of a peaceful and dignified assembly. They have urged citizens to record any incidents and share the footage in the group.

The announcement of the rally comes two weeks after the State Anti-Corruption Office (USKOK) opened an investigation against Šimunić, three other individuals and two companies. The investigation was launched on suspicion of favouritism in the awarding of contracts related to the Advent season in Oroslavje in 2024.

According to investigators' suspicions, contracts for the rental of an ice rink, Advent huts and associated equipment were awarded without following the legally prescribed procurement procedures. The total value of the contracts is 46,116 euros.

Šimunić has rejected the allegations, stating that he did not instruct anyone to break the law and that he received no money or service in return. Following the opening of the investigation, the mayor claimed that the proceedings against him could be linked to his public statements regarding irregularities in the funding of sports federations. USKOK has dismissed the claims that the investigation is connected to those statements.
