A woman from the Zagorje region has been found guilty of domestic violence, with the court imposing a sentence of 20 days' imprisonment conditionally. The judgment was delivered following an incident that took place in a home south of Oršić.
The incident occurred around 21:00, when the woman directed a series of insults at her husband. Among the words used were 'faggot', 'stinking piece of shit' and 'may your mother suck you'. The court determined that this constituted psychological abuse within the family.
The husband stated to the police that the woman had started a fight without provocation, after which she insulted him. During the proceedings, the woman denied having behaved violently towards her husband, but the judge found the husband's account to be credible and logical.
In its decision, the court took into account that the woman had previously been convicted of domestic violence against the same husband. Moreover, she had already been penalised three times for the same offence this year, which further influenced the severity and nature of the sentence.
The imposed sentence is conditional and will not be enforced provided that no further similar offence is committed within the next year. This gives the woman the opportunity to avoid imprisonment, provided she refrains from repeating the abusive behaviour.
