A video circulating on social media shows a brutal attack on a man in the centre of Slavonski Brod. The footage clearly shows a young man striking and dragging a motionless man across the asphalt. The incident occurred on the night from Saturday to Sunday in Zajceva Street, a location located near several nightclubs.
The police confirmed that a minor had physically assaulted a 31-year-old man. According to the statements of the injured man's sister, he was returning to a taxi stand after leaving the club when he was intercepted by a group of young men. After he was struck, he attempted to flee, but the attackers caught up with him.
The sister recounted that the attackers threw him to the ground and began striking him, despite his pleas for them to stop. The injured man was taken to the General Hospital in Slavonski Brod. The director of the institution, Josip Samardžić, confirmed that the patient was discharged to home care following a short period of medical observation.
Samardžić added that the injured man was discharged with instructions for further check-ups. Although the physical injuries were assessed as minor, the psychological impact of the incident is profound. Experts warn of the growing problem of violence in public spaces.
Psychologist Tarbić described such cases as the ultimate form of violence against a person who was unable to defend themselves. In his view, this is a situation that leads to the complete destruction of the victim, both physically and emotionally. The case has drawn a strong public reaction due to the ruthlessness of the attack.
