A road accident resulting in injury occurred last night, on 30 July, about half an hour after midnight in Rogoznica. The incident took place at the location of Obala kneza Domagoja, specifically at the junction with Ulica Put podlavičkih žrtava.
The injured party was a 19-year-old man who was riding an electric scooter at the time of the incident. According to established facts, the young man was travelling on a surface not intended for the passage of personal vehicles, and he was not wearing a protective helmet.
The investigation established that the 19-year-old had not adjusted his speed to the conditions and state of the road. On this section of the road, there is a T-junction where the road makes a slight left turn, conditions that require caution. The young man lost control of the handlebars of his electric scooter.
Due to the loss of control, the 19-year-old struck a raised concrete curb. The force of the impact caused the young man to fall to the ground, where he sustained serious bodily injuries. The injured young man was kept for further treatment at the general hospital in Šibenik.
A mandatory penalty notice will be issued against the 19-year-old. He is being charged with offences under the Road Safety Act, primarily for violating rules on driving on designated surfaces and for excessive speed.
