Kutina police on Monday, 3 August, carried out two separate interventions regarding the operation of electric scooters in the town centre. The first stop was conducted at around 19:15 in Školska Street, where officers stopped minors operating the specified vehicle. Shortly afterwards, at around 20:40, the same team of police officers stopped a group of minors, this time in Kolodvorska Street, also for riding a scooter.
During both incidents, police established key legal and technical facts regarding the status of electric scooters. It was determined that the scooters, due to their specific technical characteristics, are not considered personal transport. This definition is crucial as the scooters do not fall into any other category of vehicle under current regulations.
Given that the electric scooters do not have the status of a vehicle or personal transport, their use in traffic is subject to strict restrictions. Police therefore acted in accordance with the regulations, temporarily seizing the scooters from the minors in both instances. This measure ensures that equipment without a defined status is not used in a manner that could endanger participants in traffic.
