Police officers from the Zabak Police Station found two minors, aged 15 and 16, riding electric scooters. The incident occurred on Thursday, 8 October 2026, at approximately 19:40.

An inspection revealed that the characteristics of the scooters did not correspond to the category of personal transport. Specifically, the power of the scooters' electric motors exceeded the legally permitted 0.6 kW, thereby classifying these vehicles in a category that is not permitted to participate in traffic on roads.

In accordance with Article 112, paragraph 10 of the Road Safety Act, it is prohibited for such vehicles to participate in traffic on the roads of the Republic of Croatia. Consequently, charges are being brought against the minors, and the relevant local office of the Croatian Institute for Social Welfare, which is competent in this matter, has been informed of the incident.

In accordance with Article 76a of the Offences Act, the scooters were temporarily confiscated pending a decision by the competent court. Police remind the public that participation in traffic is permitted only for scooters without a seat, the power of which does not exceed 0.6 kW and which cannot reach a speed greater than 25 km/h. For scooters exceeding these values, participation in traffic is not permitted, and a fine of 130 euros is prescribed for this offence.

The Krapina-Zagorje Police Department appeals to all road users, particularly drivers of electric scooters and their parents, to observe traffic regulations and contribute to greater safety on the roads through responsible behaviour.
