On the island of Rab, specifically in the vicinity where a car was preparing to turn, a traffic accident occurred in which a 36-year-old motorcyclist was injured. The collision occurred around 17:00, and the accident involved a car driven by a 73-year-old. According to available information, the cause of the accident was the motorcyclist's inappropriate distance from the vehicle in front, which resulted in a collision with the rear of the car.
The medical team determined that the motorcyclist had sustained severe bodily injuries. Due to the severity of the condition, the man was urgently transported to the Clinical Hospital in Rijeka, where he received necessary medical care. Although the injured man's condition is currently stabilised, his overall condition remains serious, and doctors are monitoring his recovery.
The 73-year-old driver of the car, who had Rijeka registration plates, was involved in the accident. Although it is not stated whether he was injured, all persons involved in the accident were taken to hospital for examination. Police checked all circumstances at the scene, including the motorcyclist's blood alcohol level, which was 1.9 per mille.
This accident has once again raised the issue of road safety, particularly regarding excessive speed and distance from the vehicle in front. Experts warn that it is important to adhere to the prescribed distance, especially in conditions of reduced visibility or on narrow roads.
