A serious traffic accident occurred yesterday afternoon in Ražan, where a 71-year-old driver of a truck struck a 73-year-old pedestrian. The accident occurred at approximately 15:40 on Andrija Palmović Street.
According to police, the 71-year-old was driving a truck when he struck the 73-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the road at that moment. The pedestrian was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to the General Hospital in Koprivnica. A breath test revealed a concentration of 1.48 per mille in the pedestrian, while no alcohol was detected in the 71-year-old driver.
Blood was drawn from the driver and the pedestrian, and urine was collected for analysis. Police officers are continuing their investigation to establish all the circumstances of the traffic accident.
On the same day, at 13:00, a traffic accident occurred in Slavonski Brod on the access road to the Andrija Hebrangan settlement, caused by a 43-year-old driver who was under the influence of alcohol. The driver sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Police officers established during the on-site inspection that the 43-year-old was driving without a licence. By failing to maintain his lane, he crossed onto the parking area on the south-west side, striking a parked car. He then, in an uncontrolled movement, crossed onto the parking area on the north-east side, striking a second parked car.
The breath test indicated a concentration of 3.09 per mille in the 43-year-old. The driver was taken to the hospital in Slavonski Brod, where he was kept for further treatment, and his injuries were classified as minor. Samples were taken for analysis of alcohol in the body, and the police will, upon receiving the results, file a report with the competent court.
