Academic painter Nikolina Šimunović presented her new cycle of works, 'Interior Without Space', at the gallery of the Knin Museum. The opening, held on 11 September at 19:00, marked the arrival of new visual experiences in this cultural centre. The exhibition remains open until 5 October, offering visitors the opportunity to encounter artistic expression that transcends traditional boundaries.

The defining characteristic of this project is the way the works are dimensioned and positioned specifically for the gallery space. The works, the size of which requires observation from different perspectives, are similar to sculptures, thereby highlighting the three-dimensionality and interaction with the surroundings. This approach allows the viewer to experience the work as a dynamic whole, rather than a static image on a wall.

The exhibition includes more than thirty works, reflecting the artist's extensive oeuvre. In total, there have been thirty-four solo and group exhibitions, testifying to her long and productive career. The works, created in response to the expansion of the visual world beyond the limits of the classical painting format, extend into the gallery space, creating an ambience that changes according to the movement of the viewer.

The exhibition 'Interior Without Space' continues to explore the boundaries between painting, space, object, and installation. The works are shaped in the meeting of the viewer with the work, and assume the roles of scenery, curtain, landscape, and fragment. This approach creates an ambience in which the viewer becomes an active participant in the shaping of the meaning of the artwork.

Nikolina Šimunović, born in Dubrovnik in 1978, graduated in 2003 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in the class of Professor Zlatko Keser. Her artistic achievement has been recognised with awards, including the Rector's Award. She is a member of the Croatian Association of Fine Artists, which confirms her professional and artistic credentials.

The exhibition was funded by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia. This support enabled the realisation of a project that combines traditional techniques with contemporary approaches, offering visitors a unique artistic experience. The exhibition 'Interior Without Space' thus becomes an important contribution to the Croatian visual arts scene, exploring the boundaries between different media and forms of expression.
