The exhibition of works created at the LIKOM GACKE art colony has opened in Otočac, marking the 20th anniversary of this cultural event. First held in 2003, the event celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, with its current iteration resulting from the collaboration of various artistic forces. The programme, titled 'LIKOM GACKE: Colony, Exhibition, Networking', is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media, as well as local authorities, the town of Otočac, and the Lika-Senj County.
The opening ceremony took place on 6 September in the town park, where 38 works created during the two-day workshop were presented to the public. Most of the exhibited works are inspired by the local ambience, primarily the landscape of Otočac, as well as the rich cultural heritage of the region. This visual narrative is the result of the collaboration of various artistic forces, including members of the 'Plavo svjetlo' (Blue Light) association from Zagreb, the visual arts association 'Veli Pinel' from Kostrena, the association of visual artists from Karlovac, and independent artists from Otočac and Senj.
Due to the large number of visitors, the exhibition was moved from the initial location to a smaller, more intimate space. The exhibition is now located in the small hall on the upper floor of the GPKU, where it is open to visitors until 6 October. In addition to the visual experience, visitors have the opportunity to view a printed catalogue accompanying the exhibition. The catalogue features a selection of works created at the colony from 2022 to 2025, and the accompanying material includes a list of 80 artists who participated in the programme, thus encompassing a wider circle of creators involved in the previous works.
In addition to the visual experience, the exhibition offers rich cultural content. The works created during previous editions form a visual record of Otočac's history, with some works permanently housed in the collection of the Gacka Museum. This approach ensures the long-term value and durability of artistic expression, preserving cultural heritage for future generations. The 'LIKOM GACKE' programme thus represents not only a temporary exhibition but also a lasting contribution to the region's cultural heritage, linking art with local identity and history.
