The Day of Czech Culture was celebrated in Virovitica, with the event organised by the Czech association Virovitica-podravje. The two-day programme, which focused on promoting cultural heritage, featured works by local artists.

Four female artists participated in the exhibition: Sanda Mioković, Gordana Čurik, Jasna Keserica, and Đurđica Giba. Their works, which attracted the attention of visitors, included a variety of motifs, from floral patterns to jewellery made of Czech crystal. Special attention was drawn to scarves decorated with motifs from traditional Czech folk costumes, highlighting the rich heritage of the neighbouring country.

Local officials were present at the opening, which was officially opened by the deputy mayor of Virovitica, Vlasta Honjek-Golinac. Her presence and participation in the opening highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and respect for tradition, in line with the spirit of the event.

The programme also included a food corner with Czech delicacies, including Czech beer, allowing visitors to sample authentic flavours. This part of the programme enriched the experience, linking cultural content with culinary pleasures.

The second part of the programme, called Sijelo pod Lipom prijateljstva (Gathering under the Linden of Friendship), will take place on 12 September at 10:00. The event is expected to be attended by Czech communities from various parts of Croatia, including Rijeka, Ivanovo Selo, Zagreb County, and Kaptol. The programme will feature cultural and artistic content, including a traditional Czech market, tastings, and cultural performances, continuing to promote cultural exchange and mutual respect.
