An exhibition of paintings by students of the Drawing School 'Paleta' opened on Tuesday, 20 October, at the Day Centre of the Virovitica branch of the Croatian Red Cross. The exhibition is part of the school's regular annual practice, having operated in Virovitica for seven years.
The Drawing School 'Paleta' operates not only in Virovitica but also in Pitomača, Koprivnica, Čakovec and Vrbovec. School director Ivan Lovreković organises an annual exhibition at the end of each academic year, where students present their best works. This year is no exception, with visitors in Virovitica able to view 40 paintings by around a dozen artists.
Opening remarks were delivered by Željka Francetić, head of the Day Centre of the Virovitica branch of the Croatian Red Cross, who is herself a former student of the Drawing School 'Paleta'. Ivan Lovreković presented the exhibition, noting that the display offers a cross-section of a year's work and that the pieces are predominantly oil on canvas, although students also work in all other painting and drawing techniques.
The exhibition was officially opened by Ivančica Fett-Škvarić, president of the Virovitica City Council. Following the formal opening, Ivan Lovreković awarded diplomas to the students.
The exhibition will remain open for the next month, meaning those who did not attend the opening will still have the opportunity to view it.
