The day centre of the Virovitica Red Cross Society was filled with art, socialising, new experiences and pleasant memories last week. The programme began on Tuesday, 20 October, with the opening of a painting exhibition by students of the 'Paleta' Drawing School, and continued two days later with a trip to Baranja.

The 'Paleta' Drawing School in Virovitica has been operating for seven years, and also runs activities in Pitomača, Koprivnica, Čakovec and Vrbovec. Under the guidance of Ivan Lovreković, students develop their artistic skills throughout the year, explore various techniques and create works that they present at the end of the academic year to showcase the results of their efforts.

This year's exhibition in Virovitica offers a cross-section of their work through 40 paintings by around a dozen artists. Visitors can view predominantly oil on canvas, but also get to know the diversity of artistic expressions and techniques. The exhibition will be open for a month.

On Thursday, 22 October, users of the day centre swapped the gallery space for a journey into nature and an introduction to the traditions and tastes of Baranja. The first stop was the Karanac Ethno Village, and the Baranja adventure continued with a visit to the Josić winery in Zmajevac.

Participants returned home full of impressions, with smiles on their faces, pleasant memories and a souvenir to remind them of this special trip.
