The Cultural and Artistic Society (KUD) “Podravina” from Čađavice wrote a new chapter in its history last weekend. Members of the society performed in the Croatian Zagorje region for the first time, at the International Folklore Gathering “Vinička jesen”.

The event was held in the large hall of the Vinica Municipal Council in Varaždin County. The gathering brought together numerous custodians of traditional heritage from Croatia and neighbouring countries. Alongside the hosts, KUD “Vinica”, performers included KUD “Nevijana” from Neviđan in Zadar County, the Folklore Group “Püšlc” from Sveti Tomaž in Slovenia, the Ensemble “Vojnić” from Karlovac County, and KUD “Kaštel” from Pribislavec in Međimurje County.

Two societies represented Virovitica-Podravina County at the gathering. In addition to the Čađavica KUD, KUD “Čačinci” from Čačinci also performed, with the two friendly societies travelling together.

KUD “Podravina” Čađavice presented a repertoire of songs and dances from Slavonia on the Zagorje stage. The audience in northern Croatia was thus able to experience the Čađavica traditional costume.

Valentina Kokorić, president of KUD “Podravina”, expressed satisfaction with the guest performance and extended thanks to everyone who made the trip to the gathering possible. She thanked the hosts, KUD “Vinica”, for their hospitality, as well as Stjepan Novoselac, the mayor of the Čađavica Municipal Council, for his moral and financial support. She paid special thanks to the parish priest, Antonije Kljajić, whose blessing they received before setting off.
