The Hungarian Culture Days will take place in Dubrovnik from 16 September to 5 October 2026, an event organised by the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre, the City of Dubrovnik and the Hungarian Consulate in Dubrovnik. The event is conceived as a cultural encounter across several artistic fields – from literature and science to visual arts and music.

The programme is designed to present different forms of Hungarian cultural identity, while also demonstrating the closeness of Croatian and Hungarian cultures in their European and Central European experiences. The opening is marked by the exhibition PHOTO COUTURE at the Rixhos Hotel on 16 September.

The official opening takes place on 2 October at 7 pm in the foyer of the Marina Držić Theatre. The guests of honour included the Hungarian honorary consul in Dubrovnik, Katja Bakija, and Marko Perbić, president of the City Council, speaking on behalf of the city. The exhibition Europe is Unthinkable Without Croatia, which traces the life of the European unity visionary Otto von Habsburg, was opened by Gergely Prőhle, director of the Otto von Habsburg Foundation, while the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Deputy State Secretary, Gábor Csaba, opened the Hungarian Culture Days.

The programme continues with a performance by the Békecs Dance Theatre, presenting Transylvanian dances in front of the Church of Saint Vlach. On 3 October, the Győr Ballet performs Romance at the Marina Držić Theatre, an emotional ballet tribute to the work of Zoltán Kodály in the choreography of László Velekei.

At the Dulčić Masle Pulit Gallery, a chamber performance of the operatic masterpiece Bluebeard's Castle by Béla Bartók is scheduled for 4 October at 6 pm. The Hungarian culture days conclude on 5 October at 6 pm in the Visia cinema hall with the screening of the film Golden Legends, an inspiring story about triple Olympic champions. Alongside the film screening, a dialogue is held between Hungarian and Croatian water polo legends and the film's director, with participants including Tamás S. Zákonyi, Zoltán Zákonyi, Zsolt Zákonyi, Zsolt Zákonyi and Zsolt Zákonyi. The event is sponsored by the Croatian National Tourist Board.
