The third edition of the Klanjec ART Fest took place on Sunday, with the cultural centre in this town in Hrvatsko Zagorje once again confirming its role as a key cultural hub. The programme, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media, was designed to build a broader cultural narrative and position the town as a place where art meets everyday life. During the event, attendees were able to enjoy performances that blended traditional elements with modern expressions, including a performance by Sanja Halužan, whose blend of jazz, intuition and local Hrvatska motifs left a strong impression.
In addition to the main festival, the cultural programme in Klanjec includes a number of other events. 'Sixth Story' is already scheduled for 3 September, featuring soprano Lucija Jelušić, who was born in Klanjec, alongside her husband Ivan Šimatović, with more than 40 musicians taking part. In addition to musical performances, the cultural scene is enriched by visual art, such as the mural on the underpass to Cesargrad, created by graphic designer Rina Barbarić, inspired by the local landscape.
In addition to cultural events, European projects are at the centre. From 10 to 13 September, the 'Smart Citizens for a Smart Europe' programme will take place as part of a European partnership (Town Twinning). This programme, which brings together participants from Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Vojvodina and Slovenia, focuses on disinformation, the manipulation of information and the impact of social media. Part of the programme will be open to the public on Friday, from 10 am to 2 pm, providing an opportunity for the exchange of experience and knowledge.
In addition to these international and cultural events, the local community is preparing its own events. A week after ART Fest, guests will have the opportunity to present a part of Hrvatska's traditions and culture to European partners at an event in Krapina. This event further links local and European values, promoting cultural exchange and cooperation.
The season will conclude with a major 'Thank You, Autumn' programme, scheduled for the first weekend in October. This event, which includes two major concerts, DJs, music and entertainment, places emphasis on the family-friendly nature of Sunday, bringing the community together to celebrate the cultural heritage and beauty of autumn.
