The Mljet Classical Music Festival officially concluded on Monday on the island of Mljet, where the audience had the opportunity to enjoy a rich musical programme. The event took place in the distinctive setting of Sveta Marija islet, located within the boundaries of Mljet National Park. This year’s festival brought together a significant number of domestic and international artists, as well as numerous classical music lovers who came to experience a top-quality performance in a unique natural setting.
The festival opened in June with a performance by the Slovenian guitarist Marko Gregić. Mid-July saw the stage taken by the Post Scriptum duo, comprising guitarist Petar Čulić and cellist Silvija Bilić. The duo presented a repertoire of Spanish and Italian compositions, including works by Tarrega, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Piazzolla, and Bizet.
Italian guitarists Nicola Foppiano and Matteo Maggiora also featured in the programme. They performed works by Debussy and de Falla, enriching the festival’s musical offerings. The final concert was delivered by the Zagreb Quartet, which performed works by Joseph Haydn and Antonín Dvořák, bringing the musical season on the island to a close.
Although the main festival has ended, the cultural programme continues. On 11 August, a theatrical performance, The Adventures of Creative Accountants, will take place in Prožura, performed by Teatar Zagreba. The following day, 12 August, a musical evening titled Musica Mediterranea will be held at the Port, continuing the tradition of vibrant cultural life on this Dalmatian island.
