The historic core of Buje will be the centre of a cultural event from 6 to 8 August, when the Love Festival takes place. The event is organised by the Buje Town Tourist Board in collaboration with the local adult education centre, and the programme covers a wide range of artistic disciplines, including visual arts, music, film screenings and wine tasting.
The event officially begins on Thursday, 6 August, at 19:00 with an opening ceremony. A group exhibition of artwork dedicated to the theme of love will be open to visitors at the St Martin’s Tower until 30 August. The evening programme continues with a concert by ‘Del belcanto per l’amore’ on the main square.
The concert on Thursday features prominent musicians: mezzo-soprano Lora Pavletić, tenor Kristian Marušić, pianist Nada Matošević and violinist Edi Šiljak. Their performance marks the beginning of a three-day programme, which will move to the square in front of St Servulus the following day.
On Friday, 7 August, the programme continues with a performance by the duo Mikeno, consisting of pianist Taša Šinkovec and saxophonist Sven Crnković, at 20:00. An hour later, at 21:00, an exclusive pre-release screening of the film ‘Love in Tangier’ (Ljub in Tanger) by director Maryam Touzani will take place. Entry to both events is free.
The film ‘Love in Tangier’ (Calle Málaga) was the Moroccan entry for the 2026 Oscars, and has so far won audience awards at prestigious film festivals in Tromsø, Denver and Venice. The film will be released in Croatian cinemas in early September.
The festival concludes on Saturday, 8 August, with the traditional Wine Night on the square in front of St Servulus. Visitors will be able to enjoy wine tasting accompanied by musical performances from the bands The Primo Tajo Blues Band and Domaći Mužikanti.
